Common Questions

Sod Installation FAQs

What is your minimum project size for sod installation?
Our minimum for sod installation is 500 square feet. This ensures we can deliver the site prep, material quality, and finish that define the Butler Standard.
How much does sod installation cost in Huntsville, AL?
Pricing varies by square footage, grass variety, and site conditions. Sites requiring grading or topsoil work will carry an additional per-square-foot cost. Use the calculator above for a quick ballpark — we confirm all final pricing after an on-site visit.
What's included in your sod installation?
Every installation includes measurement, site prep, sod delivery, professional lay, staggered seaming, clean edge cuts, and a post-install care guide. Grading and topsoil are added when your site requires it.
When is the best time to install sod in North Alabama?
Warm-season grasses — Zoysia, Bermuda, and St. Augustine — establish best from late spring through early fall. Tall Fescue does well in early fall. We install year-round and will advise on timing based on your variety and yard conditions.
Do you remove existing grass before installation?
Yes. Existing vegetation is removed and disposed of as part of site prep. A clean, properly graded base is critical for root establishment — skipping this step is one of the most common causes of sod failure.
How do I care for new sod after installation?
Water daily for the first 2–3 weeks to keep roots moist. After establishment, water deeply 2–3 times per week depending on weather. Avoid heavy foot traffic for the first 2–3 weeks. Morning watering reduces evaporation and disease risk.
What warranty do you offer on sod?
We provide a 30-day establishment warranty on sod installation. Following the care instructions we provide after installation is required to maintain the warranty.
